Taking Care of Your Skin in Winter

Winter is here. . . And the air that it comes with can be brutal. It can leave your skin feeling like you never even put moisturizer to start with. It can leave your skin feeling dry and chapped and of course it can look less than amazing.

Winter sometimes requires that you take better care of your skin, and at times you will have to take extra precautions to keep it looking amazing.

So, here’s . . .

How to take better care of your skin in the winter time

Moisturize your skin

In the winter, you need to moisturize your skin to keep it moisturized regardless of what kind of weather winter brings. A great tip that you should consider is to use a moisturizer that is oil based. This is better than a water based one, because at least it will help lock the moisture in, unlike a water based one.

Make sure that the moisturizer that you choose is good for your skin, especially the skin on your face. Our face tends to be extra sensitive, so get something that will accommodate your skin and keep it nice.

When looking for the oil based moisturizer, be on the lookout for avocado and almond oils, as they are really good for the skin.

And though it seems obvious, let me just say that the best time to put moisturizer on your skin is after you take a bath or after washing your face.

Use Sunscreen

Sunscreen is not only necessary during the summer months. It is also important in winter because the truth is, the suns rays can still be damaging. We get caught up in winter and the cold, and we just want to bask in the sun because it feels soo good, but we need sunscreen to take care of our skin and make sure that it is protected.

Stop taking very hot baths and showers

Because the winter can get really cold, most of us just want to stay in the bath or we just want to stay in the shower for longer. I admit, the hot water feels really amazing, however it’s not that good for our skin. Hot water actually dehydrates the skin, and over time it can look less than amazing.

Our skin is one of our most prized possessions, and it is important that we take care of it the best way we know how. It is in taking care of it properly that it can serve us well for a long time to come. And of course the better we take care of it, the more youthful we look.
